Water Washout Tester As per ASTM D1264 The water washout apparatus is suitable for testing water washout characteristics of grease as per ASTM D1264. A sample of the lubricating grease under evaluation is tested in a bearing rotating under specific speed by spraying heated water and the loss of grease is determined. A tank is provided to hold about 750 ml of water with heating arrangement for heating the water to up to temperature 80°C. The equipment is provided with test bearing housing assembly as specified in the test method. The digital temperature controller with sensor is also provided for accurate indication of the temperature inside the equipment. The unit is provided with a ball bearing (ASTM 204) as specified in the test method. Circulating pump provided with a supply pressure and a return suction line, regulating valves, a splash nozzle and accessory.The pump is capable of delivering 300 ml/min heated water via 1mm capillary. The water containing washed out grease is collected in the tank, filtered & recycled during the test. Provision is made for fine adjustable of water flow through a bypass to allow the preheated water to circulate without passing through the jet or impinge on bearing housing. Features The bearing rotational speed is 600 ± 30 rpm. Supplied with test bearings – 2 Nos. Drain valve to remove the tested water. WATER SPRAY OFF TESTER As per ASTM D 4049 Water spray off tester evaluates the ability of a lubricating grease to adhere to a metal surface when subjected to a direct water spray under controlled conditions. The percentage of grease sprayed off a stainless steel test panel after a specified period is determined by weight. - It Conforms to ASTM D4049 specifications The equipment including spray chamber, delivery system and constant temperature reservoir. It Sprays water at the specified rate and temperature on a test panel coated with sample grease. To test for water spray resistance, fill reservoir with 8L of tap water and set the temperature comtroller at test temperature. Circulate the water through the system to attain temperature equilibrium and insert the coated test panel in the spray chamber. Adjust water spray to 40psi (276kPa) and continue for 5 minutes. Water spray system includes 1.3hp positive displacement pump; spray nozzle with snubber fitting: 0-60psi pressure gauge; bypass valve; shut-off and drain valves; and flexible high pressure water lines. Hinged acrylic spray chamber cover is recessed into the chamber housing to insure watertight operation. Standardized grease application fixture coats test panel with the required thickness of sample grease. Uses tap water; does not require water hook-up.
